Walk to End ALS

The ALS community knows a thing or two about resilience, courage and adaptability – so let’s come together virtually to show it! As the World responds to the COVID-19 pandemic with physical distancing and the safety of our community, we’re turning the Walk to End ALS into a fully online event. Now more than ever, your fundraising for the Walk to End ALS will help to provide much needed supports for people affected by ALS and funding for ALS research.

Although we can’t walk together, we’re all here together to support each other. Register and fundraise online for the virtual Walk today and join the ALS community on ALS Global Awareness day on June 21!

Event Day Schedule, June 21

9:30 AM – Opening Remarks and Warm-up, streamed online province-wide for everyone to take part in.

10:00 AM – Your Walk, Your Way: Take photos and videos if possible and share them with us on social media tagging @alsalberta and #walktoendALSab. Our social media team will keep us united all day by sharing images and videos from across the province.

2:00 PM – Finish Line: Finally, we will have an exciting virtual finish line that you will be able to watch online, featuring messages from the ALS community, special guests, and musical entertainment featuring John Wort Hannam!

Help and Hope for people affected by ALS

Your fundraising efforts and generous donations support the best ALS research in the country and enable ALS Societies to provide community-based support to people and families living with the disease.

40% Research

Forty percent of proceeds are directed to the ALS Canada Research Program where they are invested in the best ALS research in Canada awarded annually following a peer-reviewed competition.

60% Community-Based Support

Sixty percent of proceeds directly benefit your provincial ALS Society, enabling it to provide community-based support to people affected by ALS. Support varies by province based on the gaps within the healthcare system and can include educational information, referrals to local health care and community services, equipment assistance, home visits and support groups.
